Evaluation Part 6- How did I attract my target audience?

Overall I believed that we reached our target audience, although they were several ideas that were created. We only selected the ones that met the thriller genre and reached our target audience, we managed to convey the creepy tones to scare the audience but more importantly we found that the teenagers generally enjoyed our thriller, we kept the violent aspects within our thriller (banging on door, hands) which related to our masculine target audience. We also met the needs for a complex narrative as we included several flash backs throughout the whole 2 minuets. There was several things that we included from my planning towards the production, one of which was the spacious rooms or houses which we used as our main location, we thought this would appeal to our target audience as this would be more thrilling and scary, plus our audience is teenagers, and they are known to be scared of the dark and spacious areas so this would be effective. In accordance to our target audience there were many things that did appeal such as “the sound kept the audience on edge”. This was key in order to stimulate our teenage audience as it withheld the attention span throughout the opening sequence; also the narrative matched the feedback as there plenty of questions asked such as “what was the real point in the flashing of the window”, this was significant as it foreshadowed the different events that would occur later in the film. There were plenty of strengths within our film one of which was the music; because we used it throughout the thriller it kept the dark atmosphere and the tone of the opening sequence. The Editing was also very effective as the fast cuts connoted the suspense and tension. The Camera angles and shots were also very effective as this stimulated the audience and outlined the characters actions (zooms also connoted this.) There were a few things that reduced the effectiveness of the thriller for example the sound of the music could have been blended in better to improve the smoothness and flow. The Typography wasn’t really relevant towards the meaning of the thriller as it didn’t really anchor any key themes. Also some thought that some tof the shots didn’t match as the Teddy bear was in different places at different times. There were several things that could have been improved such as the typography , the correlation between the Teddy bear and the girl and the relevance of the sound.
