Evaluation Part 1-Brief

For our Foundation Portfolio, we had to produce the titles and opening of a new thriller/horror) that is fictional, also it could only last 2 minutes and we had to use thriller codes and conventions. We were marked on our ability to research media products by combining creative and technical skills and also applying our knowledge to evaluate our own work. We also had to use our ability in different technologies to assist our production.

Originally we created our opening sequence based on Vampires of the Supernatural sub-genre
However as we progressed with our rough edit, we found out that we didn’t meet the thriller codes and conventions of our treatment. So we decided to change our narrative and the scripting of our sequence to something more thrilling. We chose to base our thriller on Ghosts and sprits of the paranormal genre. It begins with a girl that is possessed by a Teddy Bear, after being given it as a birthday present that was given to her by an “unknown figure”. Again we had a change of titles, we originally had Friday the Fourteenth for the 1st Draft but this had no relation to the thriller itself, so when we produced our edit draft we used the name “Possessed”, this name would be effective as possessed related to the possession of the teddy bear and the hypnotic effect it had on the girl. There was a change in Sub-Genre from Supernatural to Paranormal; we decided to change the genre as it is more mysterious and thrilling. Also the Paranormal genre asks more questions towards the audience, such has behaviour and certain time elements.
